Are You Really Maintaining Your AV Equipment?

It’s easy to assume that your AV system is fine. Until it isn’t. Today’s audiovisual systems are more complex and integrated than ever before. And like any high-performing technology, they require regular upkeep to stay reliable. Yet many organizations underestimate just how many components should be regularly checked and serviced. These are a few pieces that should be inspected, cleaned, calibrated, and tested:

What You Should Be Checking

Signal Integrity

Are your HDMI, HDBaseT, and SDI connections transmitting clean, reliable signals without degradation?

Firmware and Software

Are your DSPs, switchers, control processors, and displays running the latest manufacturer-recommended updates?

Cable Wear and Stress

Are physical cable connections under strain or subject to damage from improper handling or tight bends?

Rack Airflow and Dust Accumulation

Are your equipment racks properly ventilated, or is dust buildup putting your gear at risk of overheating?

Projector and Display Health

Are fan filters cleaned? Bulbs or laser modules tested for brightness? Image alignment checked?

Audio Calibration

Are microphones, amplifiers, and loudspeakers delivering balanced, intelligible sound? Is EQ tuned to the current room use?

Power Management

Are surge protectors and UPS systems in place, functioning properly, and within their rated lifespan?

Many of these issues are not visible until they become real problems. Which is why preventative maintenance is so important. It safeguards your investment, and avoids unexpected downtime. Our downloadable checklist is a good way to start the process.
