AV Support for a Marine Veteran’s Homecoming

Over the past 40+ years in business, ITA has been privileged to work with incredible nonprofit organizations. Their missions continually inspire us to be better stewards of our community and give back whenever possible. In April, we were honored to support the Gary Sinise Foundation in unveiling a new home for Retired Marine Corporal Chad Ohmer. Participating in this powerful day of connection and patriotism was truly unforgettable and we wanted to share the experience with you.

Retired Marine Corporal Chad Ohmer’s love of marine life started in the Hawaiian sea but evolved into his calling to the Marine Corp. in 2008. His first deployment was in January 2011 to Marjah, Afghanistan where he was injured and spent several weeks in the hospital. Once he recovered, he volunteered to deploy again because they needed more men to serve. While clearing a mosque in southern Afghanistan, May 2012, an IED exploded, killing several of his fellow Marines and severely damaging his legs. Ohmer underwent 30 surgeries to repair his limbs, but ultimately, his left leg was amputated in February 2021.

Life after this was challenging for Ohmer and his family since their house was not accessible to a wheelchair because of stairs and narrow entryways. Hearing his story, the Gary Sinise Foundation contacted Ohmer and construction on a new 2,900 square-foot, single-level home began.

With the help of John Hill Construction and other dedicated organizations in the community, the project took several years to complete. By April 2025, everything was ready to welcome the Ohmer Family to their new home. The Gary Sinise Foundation asked ITA to provide the audio-visual support for the reveal event. We constructed audio trusses, set up video monitors, and captured drone footage to help highlight the special day.

The Ohmer family is now living comfortably in their new home and focusing on their future together. At ITA, we’re always grateful and appreciative to be included in events like this. It reminds us how important it is to stay rooted in our community and help whenever possible.
